Texto: Nehemías 8:1-10

Objetos: Una Biblia y una corneta de una fiesta de cumpleaños.

Resumen: Nehemías condujo a la gente a obedecer los mandamientos de Dios. Conseguimos una alegría y fuerzas para entender y seguir la palabra de Dios.

Nos gusta celebrar cuando llega un nuevo año. No da un momento para recordar lo que sucedió durante el año pasado y mirar hacia el futuro. Hoy quiero contarles una historia acerca de un hombre de Dios que ayudó a la gente a encontrar la alegría de escuchar y entender la palabra de Dios.

Alrededor de 445 años antes que Jesús naciera, un nombre llamado Nehemías condujo a los hebreos cuando volvieron de Jerusalén. Eran esclavos en un país lejano llamado Babylonia. Aunque habían venido a casa a Jerusalén, tenían que empezar todo otra vez. Edificios fueron destruidos por la guerra. Tenían que construir una casa de adoración, llamado el Templo. Luego tenían que construir las paredes de la ciudad por protección a sus enemigos. La gente estaba triste y perturbada. Querían recordar los buenos tiempos del pasado. Querían recibir esperanza por ser la futura Gente de Dios. Estaban sedientos por una palabra de Dios.

En el primer día del nuevo año, la gente reunida en una plaza pública en el lado sur del templo cerca de Water Gate. Era un lugar donde la familia entera podría encontrarse. No era solo para los hombres, sino también para las mujeres y los chicos. Fue dado el nombre de Water Gate porque una corriente subterránea estaba cerca que fue usada para proveerle agua al templo. El Water Gate ingresó al área del templo donde los sacerdotes estaban tomando un baño ritual para relajarlos de las tareas del templo. Esta área requirió el uso de agua corriente, no sólo agua en un tarro. Porque era el primer día de un nuevo año, los sacerdotes soplaban el cuerno del espolón para celebrar.

Le pidieron a Ezra, el escriba, que les leyera de la leyes de Dios escritas en los libros de Moisés. (Torah). Aquellos eran los primeros cinco libros en nuestra Biblia. [Muestra la Biblia] ¡Hicieron esto desde el amanecer hasta el mediodía! (¿y piensan que nuestros servicios son muy largos? ) Puesto que muchas de las personas no entendían el lenguaje original del hebreo, los sacerdotes lo explicaron en el lenguaje que ellos sabían y ayudaron a entender lo que significaba. Cuando la gente se dio cuenta que no habían estado siguiendo las leyes de Dios, estaban tristes y lloraban. Nehemías les dijo que no lloren, porque Dios quería que sean felices en este día. Porque la alegría del Señor es tu fuerza. (Verso 10) Dios les daría la fuerza y el coraje para vivir, aunque estaban atravesando tiempos difíciles. Luego la gente dedicada a si mismo que sirva a Dios una vez más y sucederá una gran renovación.

Unos días después comenzaron a observar la Fiesta de los Tabernáculos. Ahora dejenme remontarlos en el tiempo. Alrededor de 475 años después de esta fiesta, los sacerdotes estaban trayendo jarras de agua en el área del ritual de baño a través del Water Gate. El Señor Jesús se paró y llamó fuertemente a la gente, diciendo, Si alguno tiene sed, que venga a mí y beba. Prometió dar el Espíritu Santo a aquellos que creyeran en él. ¡Eso sería como el agua corriente limpiándolos por dentro! (ver Juan 7:37-38.)

Aprendimos de esta lección que no solo es importante escuchar la palabra de Dios de la Biblia, sino también entenderla escuchando a los maestros de domingo como nos explican el significado. La palabra de Dios es para TODA la gente. Dios nos dará una inmensa felicidad, la alegría del Señor, cuando crecemos espiritualmente de aprender como Dios nos mantendría vivos.

Oremos: Querido Señor Jesús, gracias por la alegría que nos das cuando escuchamos tus palabras en la Biblia. Amén.
