Resumo: Deus usou o véu do templo como uma barreira para acessar o Lugar Santíssimo. Essa separação deixou de existir quando Jesus se tornou o mediador entre Deus e o homem.

Hoje quero contar para vocês sobre a cortina, ou véu, que foi colocado para separar o santuário do Lugar Santíssimo no tabernáculo. Na verdade era um véu que servia para separar Deus dos homens. Essa parte do tabernáculo só era usada pelo alto sacerdote uma vez ao ano, para pedir perdão ou fazer uma oferenda de pecados por toda a nação de Israel.

Tem outra coisa que eu gostaria de explicar. É sobre rasgar mantos. Se um rei ficasse muito bravo com alguma coisa, para mostrar seu desprazer, ele rasgava seu manto de cima a baixo. Ele começava pela gola e rasgava o manto até expor suas roupas de baixo, e isso era algo vergonhoso.  Significava que ele estava muito bravo com o que quer que tivesse acontecido.

Quando Jesus foi crucificado por nossos pecados na cruz, aconteceram algumas coisas inacreditáveis. Em primeiro lugar, houve uma escuridão sobrenatural que cobriu a terra por três horas enquanto Jesus estava na cruz. Jesus abriu mão de seu espírito voluntariamente; ele não foi tomado pela crucificação.  Um grande terremoto sacudiu a terra quando ele morreu.  Em Mateus 27:51 a Bíblia diz: Naquele momento, o véu do santuário rasgou-se em duas partes, de alto a baixo. Imaginem só! Era Deus Pai que estava descontente com a morte de Jesus. Ele mostrou sua indignação rasgando o véu do templo de cima a baixo. O véu que separava Deus do homem foi removido pelo sacrifício que Jesus fez pelos nossos pecados. Agora era Jesus, e não um alto sacerdote, o mediador entre Deus e o homem. Todos os que buscam perdão devem pedir a Jesus. Ele é o Escolhido, aquele que pagou o preço por toda a humanidade.

O autor de Hebreus escreveu de forma eloquente em Hebreus 10:19-22:

“Portanto, irmãos, temos plena confiança para entrar no Lugar Santíssimo pelo sangue de Jesus, por um novo e vivo caminho que ele nos abriu por meio do véu, isto é, do seu corpo. Temos, pois, um grande sacerdote sobre a casa de Deus. Sendo assim, aproximemo-nos de Deus com um coração sincero e com plena convicção de fé, tendo os corações aspergidos para nos purificar de uma consciência culpada, e tendo os nossos corpos lavados com água pura.”
