Resumo: Um corredor de uma maratona está acostumado a demonstrar que vive por Deus.

[Entre usando tênis de corrida e uma roupa de corredor, se possível. Chegue correndo e vá desacelerando o passo conforme for chegando perto das crianças.) Olá. Eu estava correndo lá fora. Não corri muito, mas estou um pouco sem fôlego. Acho que vou parar aqui e fazer uma pausa.

Correr é um esporte divertido. É um bom exercício e me ajuda a ficar em forma. Há algumas coisas importantes que vocês devem saber se quiserem correr uma maratona. Uma maratona é uma corrida bem longa de 42.2 quilômetros [26.2 milhas]. Vocês precisam controlar o ritmo. Não podem correr a toda velocidade ou estarão acabados antes de chegar ao fim da corrida. Outra dica é que vocês não podem carregar muitas coisas, ou precisarão ir mais devagar por causa do peso.

A Bíblia fala de participar de uma corrida no evangelho dos hebreus.

Portanto, também nós, uma vez que estamos rodeados por tão grande nuvem de testemunhas, livremo-nos de tudo o que nos atrapalha e do pecado que nos envolve, e corramos com perseverança a corrida que nos é proposta, tendo os olhos fitos em Jesus, autor e consumador da nossa fé. Ele, pela alegria que lhe fora proposta, suportou a cruz, desprezando a vergonha, e assentou-se à direita do trono de Deus. – Hebreus 12:1,2

Isso é o que ele quer dizer com participar da corrida de Deus. Precisamos ver o exemplo que nosso Senhor Jesus nos deu. Não podemos correr assim por conta própria. Se nos prendermos aos nossos velhos hábitos que nos tornavam pessoas más (pecados), não conseguiremos terminar a corrida. Isso será um peso para nós. Se confiarmos no Senhor Jesus, ele nos perdoará e poderemos abandonar nossos pecados. Assim poderemos correr em um ritmo consistente, vivendo uma vida divina. Assim como um corredor mantém o foco na linha de chegada, devemos manter o foco em Jesus durante a nossa vida na Terra.

Bem, eu preciso ir agora. Da próxima vez que colocarem seus tênis de corrida, parem e se perguntem: Estou seguindo a minha própria corrida ou a corrida de Deus?
