Resumo: Às vezes coisas ruins acontecem com pessoas boas. Jesus fica ao nosso lado em momentos tristes.

Introdução Alternativa: Peça para as crianças fazerem cara de felicidade ou tristeza sempre que ouvirem as palavras feliz ou triste (ou sinônimos delas) na história. Caso prefira, você pode começar mencionando a história da Branca de Neve e perguntar se as crianças sabem o nome de algum dos anões. Você deve chamar a atenção dele para os nomes “Feliz” e “Zangado” para ilustrar o sermão.

Um dia, dois amigos estavam andando no caminho para Emaús. Algo terrível havia acontecido três dias antes. Jesus havia sido pendurado em uma cruz e crucificado. Eles estavam tristes e cabisbaixos com isso. Enquanto estavam falando sobre o que aconteceu o próprio Jesus se aproximou e começou a caminhar com eles. Eles não sabiam que era Jesus. Acharam que era só mais uma pessoa seguindo a estrada. Jesus perguntou por que eles estavam tão tristes.

Um dos homens, Cleopas, explicou que tinham certeza de que Jesus era o escolhido de Deus para salvar os filhos de Israel. Ele contou sobre a crucificação de Jesus e sobre como algumas mulheres estiveram no sepulcro pela manhã, mas não encontraram Seu corpo lá. As mulheres tinham visto anjos dizendo que Jesus estava vivo!

Então Jesus começou a explicar que Moisés e outros profetas já haviam escrito que Ele passaria por isso bem antes de qualquer coisa realmente acontecer. Enquanto ouviam seus corações se alegravam ao ouvir as boas novas de que Jesus sofreu para salvar Seu povo. O próprio autor da Bíblia estava explicando as escrituras para eles, e isso os deixou felizes. Mas lembrem-se de que eles ainda não sabiam que era Jesus. Eles queriam passar mais tempo com aquele estranho, mas ele agia como se precisasse continuar sua jornada.

Pediram que ele ficasse até o jantar. Quando sentaram para comer, ele tomou o pão, deu graças, partiu-o e o deu a eles. Então os olhos deles foram abertos e o reconheceram, e ele desapareceu da vista deles. Era Páscoa e o Senhor Jesus, que havia voltado dos mortos, simplesmente desapareceu diante deles!

Às vezes coisas ruins acontecem com pessoas boas. Jesus havia sido morto e era difícil entender como Deus poderia permitir que uma coisa dessas acontecesse. Pode ser que percamos um amigo muito próximo em um acidente de carro. Pode ser que nossos pais percam seus empregos. Poder ser que um animal de estimação do qual gostamos muito morra. Pode ser que um tornado, furacão ou enchente danifique ou destrua nossas casas. Nós não podemos entender qual é o propósito que Deus tem para nós quando situações como essas acontecem, mas Ele está ao nosso lado mesmo nos momentos tristes, quando nossos corações parecem estar se partindo. Jesus andou ao lado de dois homens no caminho para Emaús. Ele está ao nosso lado o tempo todo, independente do que aconteça. Esse é um motivo para ficarmos felizes!
