Resumo: Jesus é a fonte da vida eterna.

Vocês se lembram de como os filhos de Israel foram alimentados enquanto caminhavam pelo deserto? [Escute as respostas.) Deus os alimentou com maná. A palavra maná significa “o que é isso?”, porque essa foi a primeira pergunta que eles fizeram quando viram esse alimento. Provavelmente ele era parecido com uma bolachinha redonda. [Mostre a bolacha.) Nós não temos certeza disso, mas sabemos que era pequeno. Eles tinham que buscar o maná toda manhã porque ele durava apenas um dia (Dá-nos hoje o nosso pão de cada dia – Mateus 6:11). Isso foi um grande sinal da presença de Deus junto a eles e de como Ele supriria suas necessidades.

Jesus havia feito um grande milagre alimentando cinco mil pessoas e no dia seguinte algumas das pessoas que haviam comido os pães e os peixes o encontraram.

Essas pessoas queriam ver outro milagre para acreditar em Jesus. Elas deram o exemplo do maná como um sinal de Deus. Jesus se comparou ao maná e disse que ele era o verdadeiro pão vindo do céu. Ele tentou explicar que qualquer um que acreditasse que ele era o Filho de Deus nunca morreria. Disse que nunca teriam fome ou sede. Jesus é o pão da vida. Se vocês aceitarem Jesus como Salvador, viverão para sempre.

Mas deixem-me fazer uma pergunta: Se eu dissesse que tenho algo que vocês poderiam comer, e que isso faria com que vivessem para sempre, vocês iriam querer? Sim, é claro que iriam. Ao comer, vocês colocam algo dentro de vocês, seus corpos fazem a digestão e o alimento se torna parte de vocês. Isso é o que acontece quando vocês pedem para Jesus ser seu Salvador. Vocês pedem que ele entre em seus corações, ele passa a viver dentro de vocês (Espírito Santo), e torna-se parte de vocês para o resto de suas vidas. Mas essa é a parte boa! Porque Deus viverá para sempre, e vocês também! Nós devemos agradecer a Deus por nos enviar Jesus como o pão da vida.
